Revelation 2:10 > Be Faithful unto Death

2:10 Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.

Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer:
  • ​Fear none = Do not be afraid
  • those things = the words and actions of the false believers
  • thou = the true believers
  • suffer = endure insult, persecution, loss, injury
behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison,
  • ​behold = mentally grasp, accept, understand
  • the devil = Satan and his human forces of evil
  • cast = throw, place
  • prison = some literally into jail, and others figuratively by social isolation, being shunned
that ye may be tried;
  • ​that = in order for
  • ye = the true believers
  • ​may be = will be
  • tried = tested, strengthened, purified
  • + text? it is a privilege to suffer with/for Christ
and ye shall have tribulation (for) ten days:
  • ​and = in fact
  • ye = the true believers of this church of this time
  • tribulation = severe religious persecution, including the execution of true believers
  • ten = full, complete (tested to the uttermost)
  • days (prophetic) = literal years
  • ^ This church will go through a severe testing of its faith for 10 years.
  • ​Rome, Cesar, 300-310 AD
be thou faithful unto death,
  • ​be thou = the true believers are those who are
  • faithful = devoted to God, true, do not compromise
  • unto = even to the point of or in the event of
  • death = execution, martyrdom ( as Jesus was faithful to God)
and I will give thee a crown of life.
  • ​I = Jesus Christ
  • thee = the true believer
  • crown = personal emblem, reward, honor
  • life = eternal life with Jesus Christ
